Brief Bio

So Much Closer is a soul-pop band from Bend, Oregon, built around wife/husband songwriting duo Holly Davidson and Jeff Bethke. Their sound blends heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies with rich, rhythmic arrangements. What started as a duo has grown into a six-piece band, featuring keys, bass, drums, and sax, recording new singles throughout the year and bringing that sound to life on stage.

Extended Bio

So Much Closer started at home. Before there was a band, there were two parents, scraping together every spare minute to write music together while raising kids in beautiful Bend, Oregon. They began playing out as a duo and soon learned Bend has a vibrant music scene filled with talented musicians.

The early shows were just Holly and Jeff, with vocals and guitar and a shared passion for soul-pop music. As the material grew, so did the ambition for how it should sound live. The band expanded to a six-piece lineup, with keys (Andrew Bell), bass (Ben Woessner), drums (Jeff Fuhrman), and sax (Jordan Lapp) filling in the arrangements that were always there in the recordings but couldn't fully come to life with only two people on stage.

Every song is recorded with a full band and released as a single, giving each song room to land on its own. It's a way of staying in motion, putting new music out regularly, and letting the live show expand on the recorded sound. The live performances always include inspiring solos and impromptu surprises that can only develop in the moment. At the core of So Much Closer are two people writing songs together, surrounded by a tight band built to do those songs justice on stage.
